LYNNHAVEN - It was always wet in Mississippi. Nothing ever dried out.
But that was where Ella Schneider Hilton spent her teen years after experiencing much of World War II as a refugee child.
That first year in the United States, 1952, she was one of four - soon to be five - children living just outside Holly Springs. Eventually, the family moved into town, and her stepfather found work.
Hilton lives now in Colonial Heights. She visited Virginia Beach recently to discuss her book, ...
