SAN JOSE, Calif. _ Joe Thornton and Jonathan Cheechoo have the chance to be just the third set of teammates since the WHA/NHL merger in 1979-80 to lead the league in points and goals, respectively, in the same season.
With one game left, Thornton leads Jaromir Jagr 125-122 in points while Cheechoo is ahead of Jagr 56-54 in goals.
Wayne Gretzky (215 points) and Jarri Kurri (68 goals) did it for the Edmonton Oilers in 1985-86.
