Power transmission recovers; manufacturers hike prices.

An upward swing seems imminent for the power transmission equipment industry, according to the Power Transmission Distributors Assn. Although total sales for 1992 decreased by 2.5%, monthly sales continue to shift between gains and losses with the rate-of-change curves indicating a long-term rise. Despite higher sales volumes, however, distributors and manufacturers say there is no leadtime problem although they warn of an impending 3% price hike.

After a couple of anemic sales years, manufacturers and distributors of power transmission products finally are beginning to recuperate.
