Sales of Californian wine sales in the United States reached a record high in 2005 of 441 million gallons, equivalent to 185.4 million nine-liter cases, according to the Gomberg-Fredrikson Report. The report, published April 3, put 2005 retail value sales at $16.5 billion. Total sales of wine in the U.S., including other states and imports, rose by 5% in 2005 to around 703 million gallons, with a retail sales value of $26 billion.
