County Oks Hospital Negotiations: Agha increases bid to $140M, but supervisors opt for SVMH.

Apr. 12--Despite an increased bid from Monterey Peninsula developer Nader Agha to purchase Natividad Medical Center, the Monterey County Board of Supervisors opted to give administrators 60 days to develop an agreement for Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital to oversee operations at the financially strapped facility.
Agha, who initially offered to purchase Natividad in February for $75 million, told supervisors Tuesday he was willing to pay $140 million. The latest bid is $50 million more than his previous bid of $90 million, made in late March.
