Magnesium Deficiency

Magnesium deficiency is associated with an increased risk of coronary artery disease, myocardial infarction, and sudden cardiac death. (1) In a large survey, people with cardiovascular disease had significantly lower serum magnesium levels than those free from the disease. (2) Moreover, magnesium-loading tests have demonstrated that, in many patients with acute myocardial infarction (MI), tissue magnesium is not only depressed, but actually deficient. (3)
