Volume for factoring firms grew during the first six months of 1993 with most of the increase due to new business generated by factors. Factoring executives expect the apparel retail and manufacturing business to remain soft in the near future. New factoring clients have come from a range of industries including electronics, furniture, footwear and luggage. Some factors expect business to slow during Christmas 1993 and 1st qtr, 1994 due to the impact of the new federal tax law.
