An overview of the CD-ROM industry and its relationship with libraries is described based on the review of hundreds of articles published on the topic in 1992. The CD-ROM industry is healthy and growing, with libraries as primary consumers. CD-ROM prices are a problem for libraries, but these prices have not increased faster than inflation.
