Mar. 30--Companies in St. Louis and around the nation are adding women to their boards of directors -- but at rates that are glacially slow, a new national study and data on St. Louis companies shows.

Catalyst Inc., a New York-based group that tracks women's representation on boards and in management, Wednesday released its study of women on boards of Fortune 500 companies. According to the study, women hold 14.7 percent of the seats on Fortune 500 boards, up from 13.6 percent in 2003 and up from 9.6 percent in 1995.
