Mar. 29--We don't have to worry about Rocky Mountain spotted fever because we're not even close to the Rocky Mountains, right? Nope.
North Carolina has more cases of the disease than any other state. Over the past five years, 17 people in Alamance County have contracted the illness, which is spread by ticks, and the number of cases is rising across the U.S.
In comparison, only five people in Alamance County have been diagnosed with Lyme disease in the same time.
