The pump manufacturing company ITT Bell and Gossett of Morton Grove, IL, has implemented focused factory assessment methods as a means of streamlining and improving production. Upgrades of the company's Mid-Range Pump Factory were made using the said method. The focused factory strategy includes the education of workers in such areas as blueprint reading, geometrical tolerancing and statistical process controls. Workers were also asked to participate in the development and design of work environments.
