England in the late 15th Century was characterized by religious strife between the Calvinist and anti-Calvinist advocates. Amid this atmosphere of religious disagreements and a common feeling of religious alienation among the populace, Christopher Marlowe entered Cambridge University. His work on 'Doctor Faustus' reflects his views and impressions on the conflict raging at the time between the various Protestant denominations.
