In Apuleius's 'The Golden Ass' his reference to Theseus and Salvia as Lucius's parents is an important link with his Platonic theme of the sacredness of human and divine love. Theseus, Dionysus and Ariadne, who is related to Salvia, have connecting experience and associations, chief of them the concept of resurrection. The parallels between Theseus and Dionysus suggest they are extensions of each other, so in the immortal world both Ariadne's lovers and Ariadne can harmonize.
