Playwright and actor Ronnie Gilbert talks about 'Mother Jones,' the one-woman show intended as a tribute to labor leader Mother Jones which he wrote and acts in. The play, which is slated to open on the 100th birthday of Mother Jones in Berkeley, CA, portrays the strong-willed labor leader from the Civil War to the Great Chicago Fire to the mining strikes that catapulted her to popularity.
Labor leader Mother Jones was 100 years old when she died. "Or thereabouts," Ronnie Gilbert says with an equivocating gesture. "She was quite a fibber."
