Mar. 19--Robert West, fellow manager and co-worker of Alvin Coley's at Sprint, knows why Coley was named the board member of the year of the New Bern Area Chamber of Commerce. At Sprint, Coley would buy biscuits and coffee for workers with his own money and come into work on his own time, West said. He said Coley was likely to show up when his employees had to work in the middle of an emergency, such as a hurricane. "He'd come along as moral support," West said.
