Sewage spill blamed on root blockage.

Mar. 15--SOLANA BEACH -- County authorities Tuesday blamed root blockage in a sewer main for causing a 5,760-gallon spill into the San Dieguito River.

The spill was reported on Bay Meadows Way on Tuesday but was believed to have started Sunday. The sewage made its way to a storm drain that empties into the river. Workers repaired the line at 10 a.m., according to a news release from the county Department of Environmental Health.
