While screwcaps, synthetics and other types of closures are increasingly used as seals for a different types of wine at different price-points, the focus on using traditional corks for ultra-premium red wine has not swayed nearly as much.

Let's face it: There is something very romantic about removing a true cork from a bottle of wine. Unfortunately, the average life of a solid cork is only between 15 to 20 years. Thus, many wine collectors are faced with the pesky phenomenon of owning high quality wines that could conceivably outlive their corks.
