THE Cavern is THE place it all began - the most famous beat club in the world.

But it hasn't always been a case of open doors and endless queues for Liverpool's own unique Number 10 in Mathew Street.

A Cellarful of Noise, the title of Brian Epstein's biography, perfectly summed up this unique location which was once used as an egg-packing warehouse and even an air-raid shelter during the war before finally becoming a musical mecca.
