Today is Ash Wednesday, a holy day that marks the beginning of Lent in many Christian churches.
In churches that observe Ash Wednesday, parishioners will attend services today and will have their foreheads marked with ashes created when palm fronds used a year ago in Palm Sunday services were burned.
