Feb. 28--Cmdr. Robert L. Odell of Fresno entered the U.S. Navy as a seaman at 17 in 1936, and stayed on board during World War II, the Korean conflict and the Vietnam War.
Cmdr. Odell died Feb. 18 at 87, after having a stroke.
