Feb. 26--Jim Simony started working in the lab at the City-County Health Department during a simpler time when bioterrorism was not a household word and nobody had ever heard of AIDS or Hepatitis C. Thirty-six years later, he's about to retire, just as the health department appears likely to get a new headquarters with a high-tech lab equipped for 21st century dangers. Tuesday will be Simony's last day on the job he started three days after he graduated from college in 1970.
