USDA's projections for 2006-07.

USDA's outlook for grains and livestock delivered via the Outlook Forum Feb. 17 are based on normal weather and trendline yields:

CORN: Planted acres of 80.5 million (off 1.3 mil.) with an average yield of 147.7 bu. per acre. Production would hit 10.81 billion bushels. With a 550 million bu. jump in corn for ethanol and higher exports, carry would slip to 1.726 billion bushels. Price: $2.15/bu.

Biggest issues we see: Yields declining from last year and the huge jump in ethanol. A small uptick in yields could change the picture dramatically.
