A comment on current political risks for South Africa.

ABSTRACT

This article argues that the macro political risk profile of South Africa can best be portrayed as being of a medium risk category. Serious political risks, such as war, revolution, coup d'etat, hostile neighbours, military involvement in politics, violent racial, sectarian and ethnic conflict are low at present. Its resurgence in the medium term (10 years) can be judged as being unlikely. More pertinent and realistic political risk is posed by social and political economic risk.
