At the age of 73, following a massive heart attack Sunday in Rome, Italian film director Federico Fellini slipped into unconsciousness.
But no one who has seen ``8{'' can doubt that while Fellini lies tethered in the intensive care ward in a Rome hospital, his life hanging by a thread, some essential part of him is dancing on the beach to the music of the carnival, brimming with love, memories and understanding that transcend the fleshly convenant.
