Paul Pribbenow's Lutheran credentials are impeccable: He's the son of a minister, a graduate of Luther College, the holder of a divinity degree and former minister to a small Indiana congregation.

He's carrying that most traditional pedigree to perhaps the most atypical Lutheran college in the region, Augsburg College in Minneapolis, where he was named the school's 11th president on Friday.

Now the president of socially conscious Rockford College in Illinois, Pribbenow wants to carry his commitment to ...
