Feb. 3--It's lunchtime at York Tavern, a popular, though time-worn, spot on Oak Brook's southeast corner, and hamburgers are flying off the grill, just as they have for at least five decades.

"The place just never changes," said Jeff Turner of Glen Ellyn, a software consultant who started coming to the tavern 10 years ago, as he lunched with a friend.

The tavern's history, in fact, goes back about 160 years to the Midwest's pioneer days, but recent developments indicate that its future is uncertain.
