Gypsum is an important industrial mineral in Canada, with large mines in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, and the Maritimes. Interestingly, these mines are not sources of collectible gypsum crystal specimens--gypsum in these deposits is massive. This article gives an overview of gypsum occurrences from which collectors might expect to see reasonably well-crystallized examples available on the market or in the trading material of local collectors.
