Calcite vein-dikes in the Grenville Geological Province have been the source of fabulous mineral specimens for more than one hundred years. Calcite vein-dikes, which are composed of a high percentage of predominantly calcite, have been significantly mobile at some point of their formation; they are characterized by the occurrence and variable combinations of large crystals in contact with the wall rock or "floating" in the calcite.
