Pres Bill Clinton expressed his full support for the Voting Rights Act of 1965, which has been the subject of substantial discussion in recent times. When it was first adopted in 1965, the Voting Rights Act guaranteed the right to vote especially for African-Americans. Amendments made in 1982 reinforced the law against more subtle forms of disenfranchisement.
