ENVIRONMENTAL protestors have, for the first time in many years, turned their attention from road building projects to rail. Construction of the Turin-Lyon line has been suspended, pending environmental studies.
Around 40,000 people marched against plans to build a 53km tunnel at Val Di Susa, near Turin, Italy, on the high-speed line between Turin and Lyon, France, last month. Sadly, they turned violent, with dozens of police and protestors injured.
