Abstract

In this study helicopter logging using a Boeing Vertol 107 in an approximately 70-year-old stand in West Virginia was examined. The average butt diameter and length of extracted logs were 16 inches (41 cm) and 14.3 feet (4.4 m) with an average volume of 99 board feet (BF) (Doyle scale) (0.45 [m.sup.3]) per log.
