There is no single star calendar that would be familiar to Yemen as a whole, though many types of agriculture cycle-based calendar systems can be discerned. Because no one uses traditional star calendars any longer, the formal 28 marker system considered by many Yemenites as the calendar of their heritage can be seen as a survival. Doing so ignores many other, localized star systems that were once used for scholarly study, even if their agricultural worth is questionable.
