The use of recombinant DNA techniques for protein expression and purification has increased greatly in recent years. The abundant amounts of recombinant proteins that can be produced in bacterial hosts gives rDNA (recombinant DNA) techniques an advantage in comparison to the use of native sources. Many DNA plasmid vectors include an attached fusion tag sequence, intended to simplify the subsequent protein purification step.
