It wasn't Lent. But that was OK with the 50 people who recently gathered at St. John Student Parish in East Lansing, Mich., to pray the Stations of the Cross, a 600-year-old Franciscan devotion that recalls Jesus' agonizing journey to Calvary and his death on the cross. The worshipers were members of Catholics for a Just and Sustainable World, the parish faith-ecology group at St. John. They had come to meditate upon the Ecological Stations of the Cross, a project of St. Elizabeth Garden of Learning in Oakland, Calif.
