DAY ONE

I ARRIVED at Gosport's Royal Clarence Marina shortly before 10am with a bursting rucksack and only a smattering of knowledge about sailing.

Introductions took place as we walked to the harbour where our boat was moored.

The Chrysolite Clipper would be our home for the next 10 days and the sight awaiting me was not one that filled me with warmth on a cold morning so far devoid of caffeine.
