Azerbaijan: Iran Gas Swap To Give Nakhichevan A Break.

Iran has inaugurated a gas swap project with Azerbaijan to deliver Azeri natural gas to Iran in return for Iranian gas supplies to the Azeri enclave Nakhichevan, reported Iranian state news agency IRNA .

Nakhichevan is surrounded by Armenia, except for its border with Iran. A Dec. 20 ceremony to mark the new gas swap was attended by Iran's new oil minister Kazem Vaziri Hamaneh and new Azeri oil minister Natik Aliev, the former head of state oil company Socar.

Under a 25 year contract, Azerbaijan will deliver 80.5 million cubic meters/yr of natural gas ...
