THE answer is perfectly obvious...it was a joke to make you mad.al Theatre in London. The alleged joker was Pierre Fermat, a real 17th-century French mathematician who scribbled his so-called "last theorem" in the margin of a third-century Greek text, adding that he had found a "wonderful" proof of it--which the margin was unfortunately too small to contain.
