Mail carriers get remembered at Christmas time. And so do those delivering newspapers. But how does your friendly neighborhood garbage collector fare during the holiday season?

Not too bad if you talk to Stanley Hayes, who drives a residential rear-loader in Miramar, Fla., for Republic Services Inc.'s All Service division.

Hayes picks up trash from 1,300 to 1,500 homes each day and figures that maybe half of his clients remember him at the holidays.
