JOHNSTON Press, owner of the News Letter, has bought The Scotsman newspaper group in a pounds 160 million deal, it was announced yesterday.

Edinburgh-based Johnston Press has acquired the company from the Press Holdings Group, and the deal includes leading titles in Scotland - The Scotsman, Scotland on Sunday, the Scotsman website, the Edinburgh Evening News and the Edinburgh Herald & Post series.
