MADERA -- Ambulance dispatching across Madera County was switched Wednesday nearly 100 miles south from Mariposa to Fresno County's Emergency Medical Services center.

Shortly before 8 a.m., California Department of Forestry Command Center dispatchers in Mariposa handled their last Madera County ambulance call.
