The federal government plans to award half a million acres of forest to the Navajos in an attempt to settle the latter's land dispute with the Hopis. Critics say that this would set a bad precedent in handling forest lands and undermine public trust in the Forest Service.
In a land-claim settlement that pleases almost no one, the feds plan to dole out half a million acres of forest--including 200,000 that belong to all of us.
