The invasive plant known as hydrilla, Hydrilla verticillata, is sometimes called the perfect aquatic wee because of its reproductive adaptability. Since its introduction into the United States from Southeast Asia in the 1950s near Tampa, Florida, hydrilla has clogged waterways throughout the southeastern United States. It has even found its way to the nation's Pacific coast.
