Una vez disuelto, en febrero pasado, el fideicomiso del Club Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz, el gobierno de Herrera Beltrán le entregó a Herrerías los derechos sobre las cartas de siete de los principales jugadores del Veracruz, además del "más amplio finiquito que en derecho proceda" y, por si fuera poco, lo liberó de cualquier acción jurídica en su contra.
