Meet Farah Ahmedi. The 17-year-old Afghan teen and high school senior who lives just outside Chicago recently won the Good Morning America and Simon & Schuster "The Story of My Life" contest.
Last April, Farah's moving life story about her childhood in war-torn Afghanistan and her journey to America in 2002 was voted number one of 6,000 entries by a panel of celebrity authors and more titan 18,000 viewers of Good Morning America. Soon after winning the contest, her experiences were published in a book, The Story of My Life: An Afghan Girl on the Other Side of the Sky.
