IT IS A FACT THAT CURRENT OPERA REPERTOIRE IS MOVING backwards in time faster than it is moving forwards. One of the generals leading the retreat, so to speak, is Toronto-based Opera Atelier. The company is celebrating its 20th anniversary season this November with the North American premiere of Jean-Baptiste Lully's Armide, a French Baroque masterpiece written in 1686.
