Oct. 21--MARION -- Bob Hein saw a proposed resort and casino as a way to bring jobs and property tax relief to Marion County.

So Hein, chairman of the Marion County Commission, gave former Wichita Mayor and developer Bob Knight a call.

After Monday's commission meeting, the developers convinced Marion County to enter the race for the proposed $300 million project, first by seeking the opinions of voters. The decision to schedule a nonbinding election was unanimous.
