Just as the annual Tribute in Light commemorates the World Trade Center in New York with two beams of light, a permanent art project in the planning stages will pay tribute to the two monumental Buddhas that were destroyed by the Taliban in Bamiyan Province, Afghanistan, just six months before the 9/11 terrorist attacks [see "Artworld," Apr. '01].
