Katrina shattered Al LaCabe's heart twice.
It broke once when the levees around New Orleans gave way, sending floodwaters into the 7th Ward neighborhood where he was raised as a child, causing substantial damage to the former homes of his mother and grandmother.
Now the only memories that Denver's manager of safety has of the houses he grew up in are from photographs he and his wife, Grace Sena, took in June when they visited Louisiana to celebrate his grandmother's 100th birthday.
His heart split open a second time ...
