A SURGEON last night said saving a stricken angler's eye was all in a day's work.

Acrefair angler Darren Williams needed major surgery after a freak fishing accident left a lead weight embedded in his face.

Ysbyty Glan Clwyd maxillofacial surgeon Emma Woolley helped rebuild his eye socket.

Last night she said it was "amazing" he did not lose his sight.

The drama unfolded as Darren, 34, fished for carp with his brother Paul and friends at Llyn y Gors lake, near Llandegfan, Anglesey, on Saturday.
