Does humanism encourage human chauvinism?

The conflict between anthropocentric and biocentric attitudes must be viewed carefully by humanists in assessing their relevance and value. Philosopher Peter Singer proposes that humans must replace the human-centered approach to life with a biocentric approach. He has created the term speciesism to portray prejudice against other species in favor of the individual's own. To avoid this extreme, a biocentric approach, which views life as interdependent and realizes the value of one species to another, is necessary.
